Training sessions will look a bit different for everyone this season.
As we are planning big things ahead for the club.

Teams and training schedules should be out by Saturday at the latest.
Maybe earlier.

IMPORTANT NOTE.
Throughout the two last seasons, (association wide) spectator behaviour has been a major discussion, and a major issue.
This is with all clubs.
Parents from all clubs are thinking about taking their kids out of the sport due to this.
Issues including abuse to referees, coaches doing things out of their control, people ambushing referees, players making abusive remarks, the list goes on.
NOT SAYING IT’S US, OR POINTING FINGERS, IT’S ASSOCIATION WIDE.
This is not the behaviour we want in our club.
All of coaches will be having a meeting with John (Director of Coaching) and myself on these subjects and multiple other things (to improve our club).
We want our spectators to be loud, proud, and supportive to the teams, players and referees.
What we don’t want is fully grown adults abusing referees, especially underage referees, (same with coaches).
Some of these referees being players at Mill Park Blazers.
They are learning the game, just as much as our players are.
Venue supervisors will be reporting back to the association, then gets passed on to us about spectator behaviour.
If we hear it’s any Blazers parents, their will be no assistance from the club in that parents tribunal.
A little scenario for everyone.
“What if that’s your child getting abused from adults because she/he may have missed a call, how would you react”.
We all learn from our mistakes. Some of us more than others.
This is not Soccer or AFL. It’s a indoor environment, these referees are mostly children. Let them learn, let them develop.
If there is a issue with the referees, please email me.
We will determine if it needs to go further, or if it is a anomaly that can be handled with a chat the right people.
We don’t want this kind of reputation, we have amazing families, and amazing people here, let’s keep it that way.
No Ref’s, No Game.

Any other questions, please don’t hesitate to email me.

Thanks.

Steven Russell.
President at Mill Park Blazers Basketball Club.
